Read Any Good Books Lately?

I am a voracious reader. It's one of my favorite things to do and a huge source of inspiration. The only thing I feel like I've sacrificed this past year in school is my time to read. It's been so long since I've had the chance to pick up a book just for fun that I don't even know what I feel like reading. Does anyone have any suggestions?

My favorite subject!

I happily suggest the following:

The Golden Compass (and the rest of the series), by Philip Pullman.

The Time Traveler's Wife, completely enchanting.

Hawkes Harbor, by S.E. Hinton (of The Outsiders). A quick read, with a twist.

Memoirs of a Geisha--but you've probably read that or seen the film.

Anything by Amy Tan--she's just fabulous and her charachters are so real.

Let me know what you end up finding--or suggest yourself. I'm a total bibliophile.

Ditto Golden Compas (Amy forced me. I loved it)

Ditto on everything, really.

Long Way Down by Nick Hornsberry (?) is turning into an interesting read.

Or there is this great NOVEL I read awhile ago called "The Professor and the Madman".

Smirk.

Thanks for the recommendations Amy and Lo. I know Karen would third The Golden Compass so I will head back to the library and start there.

I do in fact third The Golden Compass and the subsequent books in the His Dark Materials trilogy. Philip Pullman is a genius! I also like Garth Nix and would start with his book Sabriel.
